EMMA ANDERSON ART PORTFOLIO

Underwater
This is a painting of a view of two turtles underwater. I made this piece by blending blues and teals, then painting turtles and coral over that with a dark black. I did get inspiration for the painting online, but I changed what I saw. I chose to paint a big turtle and a small turtle because they are my mom's favorite animal, and I wanted them to represent me and her. My goal with this painting was to just make something I like, I haven't painted much recently and I wanted to not have too ambitious of a start. Overall I am happy with my painting, I think it looks very nice.

Whale Shark
This is a watercolor piece of a whale shark coming out of a box where it starts to be displayed in pen and ink. I chose to paint a whale shark specifically because I did a quiz that said it was my spirit animal and they have qualities that I really admire. My goal for this piece was to switch things up with a new form of painting (watercolor) which brought a challenge making it difficult to recover after making a mistake, but I think it still came out very well. Overall I really like this piece and it is very nice in my opinion.

Envy
This piece is of a lady who is very envious. I used a green-teal monochromatic color scheme to show the emotion taking over the woman, physically and emotionally. One of her ears is enlarged to show her trying to listen in on someone to represent the obsession that jealousy can bring. A goal I had for this painting was to show emotion in an irregular way, which I think I achieved. Overall, I like the painting, and I enjoyed making it.

Boy Fishing On The Lake
This is a beautiful watercolor piece that I made and afterwards I saw clouds in the design and got inspired so I drew them in. After the clouds were done I felt it needed something more and the colors reminded me of a sunset so I drew that on a lake. Overall I really like this and think it is very warm and happy yet calming.

Spookini
This piece of art is of a spooky dark tree. I made it by first using a technique called ink blowing, and then using a candle to make the look of smoke. The piece was made to create an eerie feeling. My goal for this was to create something nice for Halloween. Overall I like the piece, and it is very mysterious.

KABOOM Island
This painting is of a beautiful tropical jungle. It has palm trees, flowers, a bridge, and a colorful sunset. The painting was based off of the first dream I remember ever having. I think I was 5 years old and the dream has stuck with me. The painting makes me feel excited and calm at the same time and I really like that. Overall I really like my painting and I think I did a good job.

Woodland Tea Home
This is a teapot fairy house that I found and painted. I used pastel colors to give it a soft aesthetic with some brown that compliments the other colors nicely. I think it creates a playful and happy feeling. Overall I like the piece quite a lot and think it would be very nice in a garden or even just a decoration in a room.

Rainbow Barf
This piece is a variety of vibrant mixing colors made by paper marbling. Paper marbling is a process where you drop dye in a tray of gel, let it disperse, you can manipulate the color with a comb or stick, and then you put your paper in the gel. This piece really shows joy with the exciting colors. My goal with this was to try something new. Overall I like the bright combination of colors.
